Midnight Bass, Edinburgh's longstanding weekly club night bass renegades, have been ultra busy during 2020, reframing the negatives of being an events team in a post Covid world in lockdown by harnessing their passion, time and energy into stoking the fire of Scottish bass music at its very foundations. Since the start of the year they have been curating not only a formidable mix series showcasing the breadth of talent and tastes across Scotland but have also been digging deep into the darkest studios of the nations producers hunting down the finest bass smiths possible.. bringing them together into a mighty 20 track release: "Scotland VA". This is Midnight Bass's shapeshift into the realms of the co-label/club!
Straight from the depths of this mammoth VA we are proud to present our very first premiere here at SHSC! The ever tasty "Ramen" is a filthy club banger from Edinburgh producer Torso, with the crispest of drum precision, funky reese work to die for and instrumental hook that keeps you coming back for more this is another on point plate from the producer who has been firing out some banging cheeky bootlegs of late (Apparat's Goodbye anyone?). The Hip Hop and Trap influenced switches in Ramen before the breakdown and on the outro are particularly nice touches that will shakedown in the clubs when they open up next year. Couple that with a name checking sample that we will all be chanting in the dance this is a solid drop from a solid VA which will be dropping on Dec 9th! Cmon now - Recognise My Torso!!
